Paper to digital logbook conversion

Handwritten pilot logbook transcription into an airline-ready digital record.

We convert handwritten flight entries into a consolidated Excel digital logbook, combine them with any digital or military records you already have, and deliver summary sheets for applications and interviews.

What is included

Handwritten transcription is part of the main logbook services.

Handwritten transcription is not a separate public checkout item. It is included inside the Deluxe Logbook and the Deluxe Logbook and Update Bundle.

All digital logbook line transcription is included. The first 1,000 handwritten lines are included. If your handwritten records exceed 1,000 lines, we confirm the size of the project with you first, then additional handwritten lines are billed later at $0.15 per line.

Deliverables

More than a typed copy of your paper book.

Structured Excel logbook

Your entries are organized into a digital format that is easier to sort, total, review, and update.

Mixed-record consolidation

Handwritten pages can be combined with digital exports, PDFs, spreadsheets, and military flight records.

Application summaries

You receive summary sheets designed to support airline application and interview preparation.

Why paper takes care

Handwritten logbooks need transcription and structure.

A paper logbook is usually organized for the pilot who wrote it, not for an airline application reviewer. Abbreviations, carry-forward totals, faded ink, correction lines, missing aircraft details, and mixed training entries can all make the record harder to use later.

The goal is to preserve what the original logbook says while building a working digital file that can be totaled, reviewed, and updated. If you also have ForeFlight, LogTen, Excel, PDF, or military records, those can be consolidated with the handwritten entries.

Common paper logbook issues

What we look out for during conversion.

Carry-forward math

Old page totals and carry-forward numbers can drift over time. A digital file makes those totals easier to review.

Unclear handwriting

High-quality scans help preserve dates, aircraft identifiers, routes, landings, and remarks that may be hard to read from quick phone photos.

Mixed record sources

Paper entries often need to sit beside electronic exports, simulator records, military records, or later spreadsheet work.

Application categories

PIC, SIC, cross-country, night, instrument, simulator, and aircraft category/class totals need a structure that supports application summaries.

Upload checklist

How to send handwritten pages cleanly.

  1. Scan the full book: include every page in order, even pages that look mostly blank or only contain carry-forward totals.
  2. Use clear files: PDF is preferred, and 600 DPI helps when handwriting is small, faded, or crowded.
  3. Keep context together: include aircraft lists, old summaries, electronic exports, and any notes that explain abbreviations.
  4. Tell us what changed: after checkout, email your deadline, target airlines, and whether you are still flying.

Best fit

If you are still flying, the Update Bundle is usually the smarter path.

Update Bundle

Best when new flight time will keep coming in after the initial transcription. Includes 6 updates for up to one year.

Common questions

Handwritten transcription FAQ

How should I scan handwritten pages?

PDF format is preferred, and 600 DPI is helpful when handwriting is small or pages are worn. Include all pages, even if some appear blank.

What happens if I have more than 1,000 handwritten lines?

We confirm the size of your logbooks with you first. Additional handwritten lines are billed later at $0.15 per line.

Can you combine paper and digital records?

Yes. The core deliverable is a consolidated Excel digital logbook, so paper pages and digital records can be brought together into one working file.

Do I need to count my handwritten lines first?

No. Send the complete records after checkout. If the handwritten portion appears to exceed the included 1,000 lines, we confirm the scope with you before additional handwritten billing.

What if some entries are hard to read?

Send the clearest scans you can and include any supporting context. If a record needs clarification, we can ask follow-up questions during the project.

Will I get a file I can update later?

Yes. The deliverable is an Excel digital logbook. If you want us to help keep it current, choose the Update Bundle.

Turn the paper book into a record you can keep current.

Start with the Update Bundle if your flight time will keep changing during the next year.
